Ron: The freedom to drive does not mean you get to drive anywhere you want. That is determined by the highway department and a lot of other things. They pave a road and there are white lines and yellow lines. Sometimes there is only one lane and sometimes there are multiple lanes. That’s when you get to choose. They even put limits on how fast you should go.
Okay, good parenting is like being the highway department. We set the boundaries for our kids and teach them where and how fast they can drive. But within that, we also give them lots of choices. Now, here is the secret. The combination of freedom and boundaries, and a few tickets every now and then, makes for a well-trained driver. For FamilyLife Blended, I’m Ron Deal.
