Teens are Not Adults … Yet
Brian and Angela Haynes, author of the book, "Relentless Parenting," remind parents that their teens are not adults. This means your teens are not in charge at home, and they still need you to set up some guidelines and non-negotiables, like going to church and dressing appropriately.

Teens are Not Adults … Yet
Bob: We should say here—your daughter, Hailey, has shared on her blog her perspective on this season in her life, which was what?—three years?
Angela: Three years quietly; I would say, one year—
Bob: —openly?
Angela: —openly.
Bob: Yes; so if our listeners want to hear Hailey talk about her own experience, they can go to FamilyLifeToday.com. We’ve got a link there to her blog, and they can kind of read what she went through. They can get a copy of your book, Relentless Parenting, which we’ve got in our FamilyLife Today Resource Center as well. Again, all of that is at FamilyLifeToday.com.
Hailey, today—there has been a turn in her heart; right?
Angela: Absolutely. It’s a beautiful thing—I see prayers answered—I see in her a repentant walk with the Lord, being drawn back to Him and redeemed in that. I see that God called her out for a reason. He called her out of her brokenness for a reason, and she is taking advantage of that and doing great things in His name.

Bob: Well, again, I’d encourage listeners, who have heard us talk about this season as you have gone through it, to go to FamilyLifeToday.com and click the link and read what Hailey shares about her own experience through this season. Of course, I’d encourage them to get a copy of the book, Relentless Parenting, not only to read about what you guys walked through, but about what you learned in the process and what we can all learn in the process as well.
We have copies of Relentless Parenting, by Brian and Angela Haynes, in our FamilyLife Today Resource Center. You can order, online, at FamilyLifeToday.com; or you can call to order at 1-800-FL-TODAY. Again, online, the website is FamilyLifeToday.com. The toll-free number is 1-800-358-6329; that’s 1-800-“F” as in family, “L” as in life, and then the word, “TODAY.”
22:00
You know, we will often get notes or emails sent to us, here at FamilyLife, where a listener writes in to say that a topic we were discussing on a particular day was exactly what they needed to hear that day—it was an issue they were wrestling with / it was something going on in their life, in their marriage, in their family—and our conversation was used by God to either keep them headed in the right direction or to recalibrate things and get them headed back in the direction God would have them go.
I think about that, and I think about our Legacy Partners, who are the ones who make all of this possible. Legacy Partners pray for this ministry and provide the financial support each month so that this program can be heard by more people all around the world, month in and month out.
23:00
As you give to FamilyLife, you make it possible for this program to reach couples at critical moments in their marriage or to equip parents at points when they need help and hope. That’s what you provide when you support the ministry of FamilyLife Today.
If you’ve ever thought about becoming a monthly Legacy Partner, January is a good month to start something new. You can go, online, at FamilyLifeToday.com and become a Legacy Partner; or you can call 1-800-FL-TODAY to sign up and become a Legacy Partner. When you do, we’d like to send you a thank-you gift. It’s a brand-new resource from Barbara Rainey. It’s a heart-shaped chalkboard that is part of her Ever Thine Home® collection. It’s our gift to you when you become a Legacy Partner or when you make a one-time donation in support of this ministry. We appreciate your partnership with us, however you’re able to help; and we just want an opportunity to say, “Thank you.”
And we hope you have a great weekend! We hope you and your family are able to worship together in your local church this weekend.
24:00
And then I hope you can join us back on Monday. We’re going to talk about how important real friendship is in our spiritual journey. In fact, if you want your marriage to thrive, and your family to do well, you’re going to need friends—not just one another—but friends outside of the marriage relationship and friends outside the family. I hope you can tune in on Monday as we talk about the power of friendship.
I want to thank our engineer today, Keith Lynch, along with our entire broadcast production team. On behalf of our host, Dennis Rainey, I'm Bob Lepine. We will see you back next time for another edition of FamilyLife Today.
